Vroom, Vroom. That wasn’t the infamous car featured in the Nintendo Wii ads. It was the Nano car by Tata Motors. This compact car is their latest automotive creation, and has caused a lot of stir since it was introduced a few weeks ago. Although this car is only 3099 mm in length, it has a lot to offer for a very reasonable price. Currently it is only being made in India (where Tata Motors is based), but after a few changes are made to meet the United State Governments regulations, they will be selling this hip new car in the USA.
So what’s this buzz all about? Maybe its one of these features that make the Nano by Tata Motors the most amazing new vehicle:
- 15 liter tank
- 23.6 km per liter
- 2 cylinder
- Holds 4 people
- Maximum speed of 105 kmph
- Approximately $2000
- Available in: racing red, summer blue, champagne gold, lunar silver, ivory white, and sunshine yellow
When I first saw the design of this car I couldn’t understand what the craze was all about. After reading numerous websites regarding this amazing vehicle, I suddenly realized that how it looked had nothing to do with all the attention it was getting. (That doesn’t mean its design is not what initially attracts most people to it.) Not only is the Nano environmentally friendly by getting 23.6 kmpl, but also it is cheap enough to be within most people’s economic range. Cars today have become extremely expensive, especially if you wish to purchase one that will not harm the environment. Thanks to the simplicity and effectiveness of the Nano, Tata Motors has been able to create a compact car that is “in the reach of all.”

Sick of being stuck at the airport or having to go through security? Longing for the chance to take off at any point of the day, whether it is by car of plane? The car that transforms into an airplane is now here. The Transition by Terrafugia is the world’s first car that can turn into a plane by simply lowering or raising the wings.
The transition has caused a huge buzz recently since it is almost ready to be used by anyone who can spend $150,000 on it. This roadable aircraft is one of a kind light sports aircraft that can be used on any road, in any parking garage, and can take off from any airport with at least 2,500’ of runway. Terrafugia even claims that “on average, you’re within 30 miles of less of one of these fields anywhere in the country.” Buying the Transition is a better idea then buying a plane or a car. You cut down the price of having to rent somewhere to store your plane and can save on gas because the Transition uses automotive gasoline. Also, because your car and plane are one vehicle, it allows you to take off and land whenever you please and drive your car if the weather isn’t flying permitting.
Being a tech woman I think this invention is incredible. Ever since I saw Flubber back in the 90’s, I have been anxiously waiting for a car that could fly. I am skeptical if the Transition is finally the invention we have been waiting for, or if it is another failed attempt. After reviewing their website multiple times, I think Terrafugia has finally accomplished what many before them only dreamed of. The first roadable aircraft is here, whether we are ready for it or not.
