Webcams have been around for a long time helping us all enjoy video & pics on the computer so when an innovation comes along that makes you say ‘wow’ in this mature product space its worth looking into. This is the case with the innovative ‘Eyeball’ webcam from the Blue Microphone company.

What caught our eye 1st and foremost is how this webcam is really one compelling big microphone sphere with a tiny square webcam component to the side. We give applause for the design & form factor. Kind of unique to see a webcam main visual feature being the microphone with an ID that resembles the old school big mic look n’ feel. You almost want to have Elvis Presley come sing into this webcam for nostalgic purposes…

Being that the Blue Microphone company is a leader in high quality mics it makes sense they would base their webcam around what we believe is the most impressive quality being incredible audio. The Eyeball features Blue’s famous pro-quality condenser capsule, giving it better sound than any webcam in the market according to the company. From our tests this seems to hold true as we can’t imagine the audio being any better.

While audio does seem to be the forte’ on this Webcam the Eyeball actually delivers you HD-quality audio AND VIDEO. One cool feature is how the Eyeball’s retractable camera lens gives you flexibility and ensures that the Eyeball turns itself off when
you aren’t broadcasting.

The Eyeball’s design allows you to place it on a desk, flat surface near your computer, or mount it to the screen of most laptops. We believe it delivers a solid design and is indeed a portable webcam, but we did find the base and attaching it to the computer monitor screen a little awkward yet it was manageable.

Another good point is on the compatibility front. The Eyeball works on both Mac and PC. We also like the fact there are no complicated drivers to install: just connect the ‘Eyeball’ to your computer’s USB port and it installs itself plus works fine. This really is a bonus!

Overall we give this an amazing tech product kudos and believe it’s a great webcam especially for audiophiles & music enthusiasts. We believe this is an especially nice fit for the musician market who want to share their acoustic performances live over the internet. 2 thumbs up to the ‘Eyeball’ from Blue Microphone!
