As more of the world is translated into zeros and ones, the need for a universal digital media player becomes ever more apparent. Although the Hi-Den Vision does not support all formats, it does have an impressive range of format support and multimedia capabilities.
The Hi-Den Vision allows you to enjoy many different forms of media on your standard or HD television. Although it is marketed as mainly a photo viewer, the Vision can also play music (MP3, WMA, and more) and display videos (MPEG, DivX, AVI, and more) directly through your television. Included is a USB port, allowing you to connect anything from a flash drive to an MP3 player, and two flash drives that support cards such as SD, SDHC, CF, and many more. On the back of the device is an HDMI out slot to allow you to view your pictures and videos in clear 1080p, full HD. In addition, the device comes with composite and component support for those who do not have HDMI slots on their TVs and a digital optical output slot to allow you to enjoy 5.1 channel surround sound. Also included is a remote, power cord, and composite cables.
When I first opened the box and plugged the Vision into my television, I realized that the task took only minutes to complete. After the extremely short unboxing time, I first plugged my Samsung MP3 player into the USB slot. I was able to navigate through my many songs, videos, pictures, and playlists in a relatively short time. Although the user interface is somewhat glitchy and lacking, it does the job. The feature I really enjoyed was the ability to preview pictures and videos before you watch select them, which is a valuable time saver. Though I only had the Vision connected to my TV through composite cables, the picture and video quality was very good. In addition, the Vision comes with a zoom feature, 16 transition effects, slide show options, and a random playback option. The transitions effects looked especially cool when I used my SD card, though the interface was somewhat laggy.
In conclusion, the Hi-Den Vision is a great overall solution to your media overload. Although its awkward user-interface and limited playback options can be annoying at times, the Vision is still a great budget multimedia player. Priced at $60, the Vision is aimed at those who want a solid multimedia player with tons of format support and excellent video and picture quality at an affordable price.
